In Northern Saskatchewan, the Nipawin Bridge stands as a testament to early 20th-century engineering, a rare double-tier structure from the 1920s that stretches 2,000 feet across the Saskatchewan River. While the car deck is now closed, the railway sitting atop the steel superstructure continues to be a vital link for the region's commercial and agricultural connectivity. It is a critical transportation link that requires regular inspections to assess and ensure the integrity of its steel structure and the railway itself.
DecisionWorks, in collaboration with Transport Canada, Niricson, and Skygauge Robotics, had the privilege of inspecting this iconic structure.
Using drones with advanced imaging and ultrasonic testing capabilities, we were able to meticulously examine the railway, steel supports, and concrete pillars—capturing detailed views without disrupting ongoing rail operations.
